About BRIANA
Briana Falco
MSW, LCSW, EMDR Trained
Briana is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and an EMDR Trained Therapist. She has been in clinical practice since 2017 after earning her Master’s degree in Social Work from (CUNY) Hunter College and is now the owner of her own private practice: Briana Falco, LCSW. However, it wasn’t always that simple, as life tends to be somewhat messy and complicated. After graduating from Goucher College in 2010 with a BA in Art History, she stumbled about in the aftermath of The Great Recession, spending her 20s in Brooklyn, searching for her passion, and struggling to pay her rent. While doing so, she worked in varied professions, from the pet care industry to hospital administration and academic cancer research. She eventually found fulfillment and direction through meaningful volunteer experiences, one of which was as a crisis hotline counselor for victims of rape and sexual assault. This led Briana to return to school to complete her Master’s in the field of social work.
Briana has experience providing counseling services for Mount Sinai Hospital’s employee assistance program (EAP), as well NYC’s largest public sector employee union, helping her clients handle issues around job jeopardy, anger management, conflict resolution, and crisis management, as well as personal/family issues impacting the health and well-being of those individuals in the workplace. After returning to NJ, Briana continued her clinical work by providing therapy to both groups and individuals in partial-hospitalization programs (PHP), intensive outpatient programs (IOP), and outpatient counseling.
As a clinical therapist, Briana believes that each person is an expert in themselves. However, sometimes we need a little help from an unbiased, neutral, yet empathetic and supportive third party in accessing and understanding that information. Using a strengths-based perspective, her goal is to help clients unlock that information and know themself better to more easily navigate the trials and tribulations they experience in their lives. Briana’s treatment approach blends elements from EMDR, ACT, CBT, DBT, and solution-focused therapy, while using an anti-racist lens. Whenever possible, Briana enjoys blending humor into her work and takes a laid-back approach, considering it the greatest honor and privilege to be allowed into the personal lives of her clients, all of whom are special, unique, and beyond comparison.
